GOGI - THE LITTLE SILKWORM

Scenographic fashion film_Master Project_2020

A fantasy story with a message about sustainable fashion.

Imagine that in the future clothes are not so easily available in stores. All the clothes you want will not be paid with money, but directly with water, plants and time.

"Gogi seeds" will be delivered to your home and will always be in a box, just like you buy something online today. Gogi eats leaves and drinks water, symbolizing the resources to make clothes. This is a lengthy process that you have to take care of yourself. At the end of the process - the magic time - you get the dress you want.

If people see that making clothes is a hard process that consumes a lot of natural resources, will they have a better understanding of sustainable fashion?

This project was carried out during Corona Lockdown, when I didn't have access to professional video equipment at university. I filmed it on my small balcony with my old camera. It was also the first time I had done a video project, yet I got very high grades for the concept idea as well as positive comments from both professors Pamela z. Scorzin and Oliver Langbein.

Thanks to both of them and to all my friends for the support!

INSPIRATION

The design idea for GoGi is based on a combination of silkworm and a so-called popo emoji set. A long time ago, the production of silk was invented in China - today silk is still a symbol in the fashion industry.

DESIGN PROCESS

GoGi has a cute appearance, big expressive eyes, small green wings and a heart-shaped beard drawn on his head.
This model is completely handmade from fairy wool materials using the dry felting technique.
